GRANDVIEW AT WOODLAWN PLANTATION

Historic Restoration of Plantation House

Located on the Woodlawn Plantation property, Grandview dates to the mid 1800’s when the Society of Friends (Quakers) established a “free labor colony” on the site.  The foundation of Grandview had undergone extensive deterioration, allowing water and sediment infiltration in the basement. Davis Buckley Architects and Planners (DBA) was engaged by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to prepare design and construction documents to rebuild the foundation in five corner locations; install a perimeter foundation drawing system with appropriate outfall away from the building; address storm water collected from the roof via gutters and downspouts and direct it away from the building; and reconstruction one section of foundation, adjacent to the front porch, from the crawl space.
