Between 1866 and 1868, Clara Barton operated a Missing Soldiers Office from a boarding house on 9th Street NW in Washington, DC.  The mid-19th century wood frame boarding house was slated for demolition in the late 1990’s until artifacts related to her office were discovered in the attic of the building.  While the front façade of the building had witnessed modern repair and replacement, the third floor, where Clara Barton’s office was located, had not been altered since the 1860s and elements such as the wall paper were had been left intact since the Civil War.  Immediately following this discover, the building was designated an American Treasure and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Davis Buckley Architects and Planners (DBA) created a 3 dimension walkthrough rendering and animation of Clara Barton’s spaces. The rendering is used to improve understanding of the work she did there, her commitment to her community, and the legacy that she left behind.
