Renovation of Lobby & Administrative Office
Garrett Park, MD

Renovation, Interior Design

The Holy Cross School, a private, Pre-K through 8 Catholic school, constructed in the early 1960’s in Garrett Park, Maryland, wished to renovate and improve their entry lobby and administration offices to enlarge and update the facilities and provide better security and visibility from the offices to the entry lobby to better screen and assist visitors.

DBA’s design features include an enlarged lobby and more efficient office layout, a new lobby reception counter with a window from offices, a new sick child room, two new ADA compliant restrooms; 1 for staff and 1 for sick students, new energy efficient light fixtures and water efficient plumbing fixtures, new exterior lighting, an upgraded fire alarm system and upgraded finishes throughout.

The design of the lobby is tied together through the use of custom designed, stained red oak wainscoting, trim and moldings, and features a detailed millwork school logo on the main entry wall.

This project is the latest of DBA’ efforts to upgrade the Holy Cross Campus. After completing the Lewis Hall Renovation in 2010, during the following years DBA also provided design and construction management for a new brick and cast stone entry sign, a new ADA entrance to the church, new bluestone entry steps to the church, replacement of damaged campus sidewalks and the replacement of the school’s original 1961 windows. In recognition of these contributions, in 2014 DBA was recognized as the Montgomery County Catholic Business Network Business Partner of the Year.
